Description

Did
you know that not all shrimp start out gray? The Argentine shrimp ( Pleoticus muelleri ) is naturally a deep red, even before it's cooked! This unique shrimp species is wild-caught in the cold, clear waters of the South Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Argentina. Thanks to their natural habitat and varied diet, these shrimp have unparalleled flavor and quality.

Flavor & Quality:
Argentine shrimp are known for their rich, sweet flavor and tender, succulent texture. They are often compared to lobster or langoustine because of their luxurious flavor profile. Their large size and firm flesh make them perfect for grilling, baking, or steaming.

Preparation:
Thanks to their heads, these shrimp retain extra flavor and juiciness during cooking. You can grill them with a drizzle of olive oil and fresh herbs for a pure flavor experience. Or simply enjoy them completely, naturally. Tip: use the heads and shells to make a delicious broth or bisque!

Certifications & Sustainability:
Our Argentine headless shrimp are wild-caught, and the fishery is working towards MSC certification. Thanks to their fast growth cycle and natural habitat, they are harvested sustainably. Thawing tip:
Thaw the shrimp slowly in the refrigerator (8-12 hours) for the best texture and flavor. For a faster method, place them in a sealed bag in cold water and change the water every 10 minutes. Avoid using hot water or the microwave.
