peeled shrimp, we use the Black Tiger shrimp ( Penaeus monodon ), which owes its name to its black color and distinct stripes. This shrimp is found in subtropical waters and is widely farmed in countries like Bangladesh and Vietnam.

Flavor & Quality:
This shrimp is beloved for its rich, slightly sweet flavor and firm texture. Moreover, these shrimp are notable for their large size and consistent quality. It's no wonder, then, that they're a favorite among gourmets and used in a wide variety of cuisines.

Preparation:
Keep preparation simple by boiling the shrimp in seasoned water or steaming them with lemon slices and herbs. Or add them to a delicious risotto or pasta dish. Note that these scampi have a short cooking time. They're ready once they're pink and slightly translucent. Longer cooking can result in a tough texture.

Certifications & Sustainability:
Certified shrimp are available upon request. At Golden Ocean, we offer frozen Black Tiger shrimp with the ASC certification.

Thawing tip:
Thaw the shrimp slowly in a covered bowl or bag in the refrigerator for 8 to 12 hours for optimal flavor. Note: Do not use hot water or a microwave to thaw the shrimp.

Packaging:
These scampi are available from us year-round. We package 95% of our items per kilo: 10 x 1 kg in a carton, 63 x 10 kg on a pallet. We also offer 12 x 400g packages for retail.
