Description
About raw peeled scampi
For our raw peeled scampi, we use the Vannamei shrimp, also known as whiteleg shrimp. This shrimp species is known for its light color, soft texture, and mild, sweet flavor. Our Vannamei shrimp are intensively farmed in Vietnam and India. From here, they are supplied fresh year-round, after which we freeze them at extremely low temperatures using special freezing methods. This ensures the best quality is maintained anytime, anywhere.
Taste & Quality
Vannamei scampi are known for their subtle, slightly sweet flavor and juicy texture. They have a finer texture than Black Tiger prawns, but it is precisely this that makes them popular in refined dishes. Their versatility and consistent quality make them an excellent choice for all kinds of culinary applications.
Preparation:
Because the scampi are already peeled, you can use them directly in your dish. For example, use them in a salad, or stir-fry them briefly in a wok with garlic, ginger, and soy sauce for a delicious Asian dish! Choose between rice or noodles, and your meal is ready. Optionally, grill them for 2-3 minutes per side. Note that Vannamei scampi have a short cooking time. As soon as they turn pink and are slightly translucent, they are done. Overcooking makes them tough.
Certification & Sustainability
Certified shrimp are supplied upon request. At Golden Ocean, you can choose ASC-certified Vannamei scampi. This certification stands for responsible farming. Our frozen scampi are of top quality: firm, glossy, and free from discoloration.
Thawing tip:
Place the scampi in a covered bowl in the refrigerator and let them thaw for 8-12 hours. A faster method is to place the scampi in a sealed bag in cold water. Change the water every 10 minutes until they are thawed. Do not use hot water or a microwave!
Packaging
